Adult Day Services
We are committed to Excellence in every one of our actions and interactions with the individuals we support! Adult Day Services (ADS) supports more than 80 individuals in a year-round program for adults with mental retardation. Individuals may attend on either a full or part-time basis. Supports may include instruction in communication, socialization, cognitive education, motor skills development, daily living skills, pre-vocational training and community orientation. A wide variety of social and recreational activities are offered in the facility and within the community. Individual Program Plans are developed for each individual based on the needs, interests, and desires of the individual and family and are designed to provide goals and activities which foster independence and enrich the life of each person. The program is located in a modern barrier-free facility located at: 1810 Rohrerstown Rd. in Lancaster.
The facility is equipped with a specialized exercise area to facilitate mobility and a music/stimulation room to enjoy musical and other sensory stimulation activities. An adapted kitchen is available to enable individuals to participate in cooking activities. Program hours are 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday, however the facility is open from 8:30 AM till 4PM. Specialized needs may be discussed with ADS management staff. Referrals for supports are coordinated through Lancaster County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program. Further information regarding the referral process may be found in the ADS Caregivers Handbook.
Supports and services are divided into three basic types: Center Based Supports, Community Options, and an Older Adult Daily Living Center. ADS staff is trained to care for a number of special needs. Support is available for all aspects of personal care, including specialized supports in the area of eating. Staff is trained to provide passive range of motion and occupational therapy support when prescribed as well as to administer prescribed medication. All staff are trained in First Aid and CPR. This firm commitment has led us to develop our vision statement, which guides us throughout each day.
